Welcome!

Thank you for visiting our website. I hope that you’ll find the information that you are looking for and that the website provides you with a flavour of life at our school.

Ermysted’s is one of England’s oldest schools and for over 530 years the school has sought to provide a first class education to the boys of Skipton and the surrounding areas, regardless of their background. Much has changed since its foundation in the fifteenth century, but the school has never wavered from William Ermysted’s original ambition to develop ‘learned and wise men’ and individuals of virtue.

Academic success is important but so is the development of character, resilience and self-confidence. At Ermysted’s we take the development of the whole person seriously. The school prides itself on its nurturing and inclusive community, and we work hard to create an environment where every pupil feels valued and supported to achieve their very best.

Opportunities abound in our extensive programme of extra-curricular activities, with pupils actively encouraged to broaden their personal interests, develop new skills and pursue a healthy lifestyle. From the rugby field to the stage, from the concert hall to the debating chamber, our pupils commit themselves fully to the pursuit of excellence and develop the social and personal skills that will serve them so well in later life.

I feel very privileged to be the Headmaster of such a distinguished and ancient institution and incredibly proud of the pupils’ achievements and abilities. But don’t take my word for it, come and visit us to meet the staff and pupils and discover for yourself. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

Michael Evans
Headmaster

“Pupils do not attend Ermysted’s, they discover a stimulating world and remain forever.
