Ermysted’s pupils publish new school newspaper

Pupils from Ermysted’s Grammar School have recently published the inaugural edition of the new school newspaper. The publication, named “The Reason” after the School’s motto, “Suivez la Raison”, included a variety of content with sections from Politics and News to Arts and Sport. Pupils from across the School contributed articles and a small team of sixth formers took the initiative to raise funds for the first publication. Local businesses MC Sports and Skipton Building Society agreed to sponsor the newspaper, allowing it to be professionally printed and ensuring that the first edition sold out quickly.

The pupils hope to go on to enter the SHINE awards, a national school newspaper competition, which takes place later in July. Editors of the paper, Sam and Alan hope that the newspaper will have “a good chance” at the competition. Mr Barrett, the teacher overseeing the newspaper, commented “I am very proud of the efforts of the editorial team, in particular, for putting together such an impressive project in the space of half a term. The boys worked incredibly hard and the first edition demonstrates the range of talent and opinion across the whole school.
