Admissions Process

Ermysted’s Grammar School is a voluntary aided, selective grammar school for boys aged 11-18.

As a parent/carer of a child of compulsory school age, you have a legal duty to make sure they receive full time education that is suitable for their age and ability. Under the Education Act 2002, your Local Authority must make arrangements to help you decide which school you prefer your child to go to.

It is important that you fill in a Common Application Form (available from your Local Authority) to tell your Local Authority which schools you prefer.

The Governors of the School are responsible for the admissions of pupils to Ermysted’s Grammar School and welcome applications from parents of boys who live in Skipton and further afield.

The Local Authority operates a selection scheme for prospective pupils into Year 7 using GL Assessment Verbal and Non-verbal tests. Details of all the arrangements are available by contacting the Harrogate Education Office on 01609 533679.

An electronic Guide for Parents is also available from the North Yorkshire LEA site  –
